Among all the resources (tangible and intangible) that an organization possesses, it is ubiquitously recognized that the human resource is the most crucial strategic resource as a source of competitive advantage. However, managing this critical resource effectively as a competitive edge is one of the major challenges for organizations. Such challenges pertain to every aspect of management of human resources management from workforce planning, acquiring, selecting, motivating, developing to retaining, and importantly strategically aligning each of these aspects with each other for organizational success. Furthermore, the management of human resources has become more complex than ever with increasing globalization and unstoppable technological advancement.  Therefore, this people management course is designed to help students to understand and appreciate these challenges in the current and changing contexts and how to overcome these challenges with effective processes, policies, strategies, and practices in making people management a cornerstone of organizational success and growth.

MGT510: Marketing Management
Semester II, Monsoon-25
Batch: Monsoon-2025

With the advent of intensified competition and a rapidly changing environment, businesses today face a multitude of problems. From supply to cash management, as the enterprise has risen above itself to establish standards and paradigms of production management, understanding the marketplace in which it operates has been a major challenge. The marketplace, being equally adaptive and subject to change (often misquoted as “whims and fancies of the consumer”), is a many-faceted entity that most organisations today must face, adapt to, and ultimately evolve with. Marketing management, in this perspective, is therefore one of the most important functions in a commercial and business enterprise today. The marketing function within an organisation provides the most direct link between the organisation and the customer, who ultimately determines the success or failure of any business or service. An understanding of the marketing function is therefore imperative for future managers. The introductory course in marketing management provides a comprehensive overview of key marketing concepts and helps participants understand the various aspects of developing a marketing strategy. Standard, well-established marketing concepts are explored and elucidated in detail, often with relevant examples. Upon completing this course, participants will gain a clear understanding of the major theoretical concepts needed for further exploration of the emerging field of marketing. While this is a primary and fundamental course for future marketers, aspiring finance/HR/operations professionals will also benefit from the many practical examples highlighted in this course, finding often diverse (and latent) applications of the same in their respective fields of specialisation.
